The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia? may have come to an end, but 64 children have been left with vivid and unforgettable memories of the tournament after leading out the teams as the Kia Official Match Ball Carrier before each game.
Kia Motors, an Official Partner of FIFA, provided the opportunity for football fans, aged 10 to 14 years old from all over the world, to get the chance of a lifetime by participating in the pre-match ceremony at a World Cup.
"I felt many emotions when I carried the ball onto the pitch - joy delight... My dreams came true carrying the ball with my idols,” Ivan Mamaev of Russia, explained. “I will never forget it.”
"It was such a big special moment,” Nathania Kandathil agreed. “I'm still dreaming - like the way I went with them and picked up the Official Match Ball. It was something that I'll never forget - it was the best moment of my life."
The 64 lucky #KIAOMBC contest winners spanned the globe, including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, China PR, Colombia, France, Germany, Iceland, India, Jordan, Kyrgyz Republic, Malawi, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Myanmar, Peru, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Spain (Canary Islands), Sweden and the UK. Each one getting to experience the unique honour of getting close to their heroes and be a key part of the festivities in Russia.
What is a Kia Official Match Ball Carrier?
Kia Official Match Ball Carriers are the lucky kids who got to carry the official match ball out on to the pitch in front of a packed World Cup stadium. Ahead of each of the FIFA World Cup matches, the OMBC leads out the referees and players, and carries the official match ball. While billions of fans all over the world watch in anticipation, the Kia OMBC then hands over the ball to the referee so that he can prepare for kick-off.
